2005 1/10oz eagle, how many ms69-70?

2005 1/10 oz gold eagle.
does anyone have a population report for the PCGS ms69 and ms70 coins?

APMEX doesn't even list the ms69s. ebay has a few, but overall the marketplace seems lacking in these.

i went to pcgs but i don't have a login.

A lot man. Most modern coins from the mint to a grading service will at least be an MS69. This is why a lot of dealers don't sgree with grading modern coins at all. Pcgs and Ngc almost didn't start doing this at all, but the $$$ was (and IS) to huge. My guy gets graded bullion coins all the time, sells them to me for just over spot. He has huge disdain for them.

Well said - same with some of my dealers - but now we get into the twilight zone between the dealer's/expert's and the consumer's/collector's opinions.....

When I had some graded recently, I had the same conversation with my dealer - till I pointed out that if you want to sell, say on Ebay, people don't often feel comfortable buying an ungraded coin.......plus the market for graded ones often gets a much better price.

10,417 in PCGS MS69
430 in PCGS MS70

A MS70 grade from PCGS used to be extremely rare (Only 2 1993 MS70 exist) but lately they seem to be passing them out left and right.

All MS-69's should be recalled. Destroy the slab and melt the coin. That should heaten up the market a bit. :tomato:

A few years back - can't tell you when - PCGS had a slab with a greenish sticker - eventually they decided they had been far to stringent giving out grades, and changed stickers and eased up a bit.........most collectors feel those earlier graded coins are actually a bit better than marked.

Re: 2005 1/10oz eagle, how many ms69-70?

The older PCGS slabs do command a premium, especially on ebay. People bid them up and get them regraded higher under the new standards and try to make a buck. Most of the time they pay more for the old grade than the new grade is worth.
